Sehnsucht is a German word that doesn’t fully translate into English, but it’s one of the most beautiful emotional concepts there is. Its core meaning is a deep aching and longing for something distant and unattainable. Lara created this bowl, as a family emblem totem for her first love Coconut Napolean Oltz-Green. Shortly after the family was rescued from Hurricane Helene, 17-year-old Coconut passed away, returning to his birthplace in Austin, Texas. It is said that when animals are ready to leave this world, they find their way back to water. Coconut followed that path, and in doing so, became immortalized as the Spirit Element in the Thèria Family Crest. He returns often in the form of a luminous green butterfly, a reminder that love transcends realms, and that our bonds with animals are eternal. The Orchid, symbol of the Great House, whispers back to him: no matter what realm you inhabit, you are forever part of our family and our legacy and will forever rest in the womb of the peacock.
