The Unbearable Lightness of Being Water Carafe
The Unbearable Lightness of Being Water Carafe
One of the most significant pieces in the Thèria Haus Family Crest Collection is the water vessel because tells the story of the creation of life.
The porcelain handle is a peacock draped across her pregnant body. Along the rim, gold trim forms a Braille incantation that reads: “Close your eyes and see.” Within the Flower of Life rests her unborn child. Her womb becomes the Flower of Life itself, the origin point from which the story of existence of all species unfolds through the AR experience.
The matriarchal peacock mother is exhausted. Her body has endured the growing pains of expansion; her hormones are unpredictable; fear is present, though she gently pushes it to the edges of her mind each day. This incubation period carries a profound heaviness, but also an overwhelming, blissful love. Her body now holds consequence. Her choices matter beyond herself.
The unbearable lightness becomes bearable, even sacred, when one chooses to hold it, protect it, nourish it and allow it to transform them. In pregnancy, one becomes both vessel and threshold, holding something infinite within a finite body. Becoming a source and creator of life feels like the heart breaking open again and again through the act of becoming who you are meant to be. With every change, she transitions away from the woman she worked so hard to become and into something far greater than she ever imagined.
She is water. She is food. She is shelter. She is everything this life needs to survive. And because she is water, and water is life, we made her a water carafe.
This vessel is a reminder that everything begins in the womb. Fear and anxiety are felt there. Nourishment is received there. Love is experienced there. How we care for pregnant women, and how they care for themselves, shapes the generation that follows. Women are the vessels of life’s creation. To respect the body that carries life is to respect the future of our species itself. When the womb is honored, the world begins to change. Meaning is not found by floating through life. It is found when we choose to carry it. That is the quiet miracle of pregnancy.
